Paul Palmintere and Linda Valentino receiving recognition awards at The Argentine Association, in Burnbank, CA, in the mid-to-late 1990’s. The Argentine Association is a very unique institution in Southern California. Technically the “Argentine-American Cultural Center of Los Angeles” or “La Asociacion Argentina,” it is a social club modeled after many in Buenos Aires, and has a wall-to-wall dance floor, professional kitchen, bar, etc. It is run by hundreds of members from Argentina, and is open to the public for Tango dancing on Sundays & Thursdays. On the left is Daniel Araujo, a major official at The Association. I had the honor in the late 1990’s to work there Sunday evenings. I taught the Tango class, deejayed the tango music, and even worked behind the bar. Those were fun years. Linda Valentino and I were Tango partners in the mid-1990’s. Linda became a major Tango instructor in Hollywood, and has recently opened her own dance studio Downtown Los Angeles, called “Downtown Dance & Movement.”
